A Righteous Cause

Today I took the girls on a long shopping trip.  Once Upon a Child to get Elliet some jeans, Old Navy for clothes for each of us, Lane Bryant and a huge grocery trip at Kroger.  While we were out we stopped into PetSmart to look at the animals.  They happened to have a no-kill shelter group there for an adoption fair.  That’s where I met her.  The best dog in the whole world.

She’s a very young Shepherd/Lab mix, one of eight that this shelter is currently fostering.

Against my better judgment I held her.  I wanted her so bad I even had Elliet call Jt to see if we could talk him into it.  He said NO.

So I came home, sans puppy, and mentioned her on facebook.  A dear friend started a group “The Campaign to Get Sarah Her Dog Already”.  Please consider joining this group.  If you are not on Facebook you can email Jt at jeddt75 at yahoo dot com to give him a compelling reason to allow me this dog, MY dog.  Some suggestions:

  • It’s a no-kill shelter and therefore a Good Deed
  • If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy
  • The dog in question is perfect and belongs with Sarah
  • Sarah would get exercise walking the dog
  • The dog would lift Sarah’s spirits

Or feel free to come up with your own.  Thank you for your time, this is a worthy cause and you will feel good about yourself for having been a part of it.

About Just Vegas

I'm a 30-something married SAHM which means the nightmare scenario that plagued my early 20's has become reality. Funny thing is, I kinda like it. I have 3 lovely daughters who are educated at home and at a part-time alternative school. I love animals and I love people (in the general sense, not everybody all the time). I have no income to speak of, I'm not crafty and I hate cooking. My skills include reading the internet, watching tv on the internet and conversing with people on the internet. I'm an armchair philosopher, spiritualist, agnostic, feminist, liberal, activist, political pundit and tv critic.

(oops, she’s a girl! I opened facebook first.) She’s amazing! Awwwww, Jedddddddddd! (in a really not whiney voice) She’s so cute! I have to say, that if you’re going to give in, this one’s a good one. Great mix! She can even come down here for a summer camp?!!! What do ya say? So you’d really just have her, hmmm, let’s see: (hold on, I’m not a math genius) 365 – 7 days (summer) – 7 days (thanksgiving) = so you’d really only have her around 351 days give or take. And that’s not counting if you take a business trip or two. 😉

(oh, and eventually a great guard dog! everybody wins.)

Good luck. Dogs and people are like, well, like P & J. Children learn so much from interacting with dogs and I agree that dogs help us see the bright side of life! Good luck!
