Terrorist Babies

Did you know that this term originated on the floor of Congress?  Some people have no shame.

A note from Rev. Paul Langston-Daley at Standing on the Side of Love.

“…we were fed rhetoric of US and THEM. We were fed a steady diet of antagonism and revenge and we were told that war was the only option. We were told that the men who did this were Muslims and that we had God on our side. Religion was used as a wedge to justify war. Over and over we heard only that they were Muslims, little if anything was said of their political and social motives. Islam itself became the enemy, and all those who call themselves Muslims became terrorists. Little was done to clarify a difference, and since Islam is not well understood by non-Muslims in the US, it was easy to conflate the two, to create an enemy, in an attempt draw the nation together with one common enemy.”

About Just Vegas

I'm a 30-something married SAHM which means the nightmare scenario that plagued my early 20's has become reality. Funny thing is, I kinda like it. I have 3 lovely daughters who are educated at home and at a part-time alternative school. I love animals and I love people (in the general sense, not everybody all the time). I have no income to speak of, I'm not crafty and I hate cooking. My skills include reading the internet, watching tv on the internet and conversing with people on the internet. I'm an armchair philosopher, spiritualist, agnostic, feminist, liberal, activist, political pundit and tv critic.

  1. Saladin says:

And nitwits like Newt Gingrich (who should know better, as a historian) and Sarah Palin (who should also know better but she’s criminally vapid) beat this drum to prey on passions and fears.

Not the kind of leadership I’d like to see.

    Kudos to Rev. Paul.
“Harnessing the Power of Love.” That’s old hippie shit, you know.

It is encouraging to see more and more people of faith recognizing and decrying this enmity and the politics of fear and resentment it fosters. This enmity tears at the fabric of our society, threatening our democratic order and the very liberties people of all ethnicities and religious, (and secular), persuasions come here to realize.
This enmity, wether directed at Hispanic immigrants or Muslims, actually fuels the fire of anti-western extremism. Lending legitimacy to the rhetoric of those who seek to do us harm bolsters their pursuit of fresh recruits not only abroad, but here as well.
In other words, those who perpetuate this kind of intolerance, hatred and prejudice, are actually providing aid and comfort to the enemy they claim to despise.
Which makes one wonder…who is the real enemy?
