Favorite Thing Friday

I hate cleaning but I love organizing.  One of my favorite organizational tools is the book I put together for my recipes.

I use a photo album with sleeves for 4×6 photos.  I put each recipe on an index card and slide it in.

Next to each sleeve is a space for notes.  I use it for alterations I’ve made to the recipe or how long it took in my oven.

In the back is a pocket for negatives (how quaint!) where I keep clippings and recipes I haven’t tried yet.

Do you like to organize?  How do you keep your recipes together?

About Just Vegas

I'm a 30-something married SAHM which means the nightmare scenario that plagued my early 20's has become reality. Funny thing is, I kinda like it. I have 3 lovely daughters who are educated at home and at a part-time alternative school. I love animals and I love people (in the general sense, not everybody all the time). I have no income to speak of, I'm not crafty and I hate cooking. My skills include reading the internet, watching tv on the internet and conversing with people on the internet. I'm an armchair philosopher, spiritualist, agnostic, feminist, liberal, activist, political pundit and tv critic.

That is brilliant! Mine are in a BIG binder and all jacked up. I’m totes stealing this idea. I love to organize, but suck at it. Hard.

I love organizing. I must…I do it compulsively. Not so much with recipes…but with information. It’s why I get along so well with computers. I should be working in a library somewhere. A law library, preferably. Or a bookstore.
I love the photo album organizer. It reminds me of what I used to build for trial lawyers…organizing their arguments…categorizing issues and referring to cases on point…the locations of briefs in support…opposition…exhibits…things they could get to quickly during oral arguments.
But that was before laptops and presentation software. (That’s right. I am that old.)

What a great idea! I use 3 X 5 cards in a card file box, but I love your book so much better!
I do love to organize things as I don’t like to lose anything. Ask me where anything is and I always know where to find it!
    Clutter is the enemy!

  4. wonderful idea! I may have to steal this…
